Under Oregon law, if you make a good faith report or complaint about a violation of a state or federal law, rule, or regulation, your employer is generally prohibited from taking retaliatory actions—such as cutting your pay or hours or terminating you—because of your report. If you work for a public employer you may have even greater protections, including in some cases if you report something that may not be illegal, but is a violation of your employer’s internal regulations, a waste of funds, an abuse of authority, or a danger to public health and safety.

If you believe you’ve been subject to unlawful retaliation because you reported unsafe or illegal conditions at work, please contact our firm for a free consultation with one of our employment attorneys.
